Report back from Cheadle Area Committee

by Lib Dem team on 5 April, 2022

This evening was my last Cheadle Area Committee as a councillor, so this is my last report back. I’ll be handing over the baton to my colleagues.

After two years away, we finally returned to Trinity Church, Massie Street, Cheadle – and it was a pleasure to be back.

You can read all the papers for the meeting and view the webcast here.

Here’s what happened:

  • Councillors from all wards expressed their concerns about the Boundary Commission report which has proposed taking a large part of Gatley and putting it into Heald Green ward with no notice and no consultation.
  • Planning application 83939 – nine 2-bed flats at 8 Warren Road, Cheadle Hulme (in Cheadle Hulme South ward, but close to Cheadle Hulme North) was recommended for approval.
  • Planning application 79528 – outline planning permission to demolish the bungalow at 86 Altrincham Road, Gatley and replace with four new two-storey houses (two pairs of semi-detached) was approved.
  • Planning application 81284 – demolition of existing one-storey link extension and replacement with two-storey link extension at Ivy Cottage, 120 Stanley Road, Heald Green was recommended for approval.
  • Application from Cheadle Civic Society to hold Picnic in the Park on Sunday 17th July was approved.
  • Application from Heald Green Ratepayers Association to host a Jubilee Picnic in the Park at Outwood Road Recreation Ground on Thursday 2nd June was approved.
  • Application from Gatley Festival Committee to hold Gatley Carnival and Gatley Hill on Sunday 3rd July was approved.
  • Proposals for road safety improvements outside Outwood School in Heald Green were approved.
