Can you please disclose the cost of these works including a breakdown of costs.
I doubt we the Tax payers are getting value for money, remember the Black Hole ha ha
These road works are a joke. BIG HOLE on Wensdale Road SK8 1QN. Since last August 2024. No work man have been back to deal with it or refill in. Cars having to go on pavement to get passed. Dangerous to pedestrians and elderly using trolleys. Time to get your fingers out and get sorted.
Would like to know why councillors have not followed up on this. They are aware as it has been reported to them more than a dozen times.
Yes, would be nice to know the cost and also for that white elephant cycle lane on Gatley Road, near Cheadle. Never seen a cyclist on it
Am I correct in thinking that the council are proposing to charge next year for the use of the green bin.if so it is a bit rich considering what we pay in council tax.
In short, yes this is under consideration. Like many councils across the country, Stockport faces significant and unprecedented financial challenges, with rising costs and reduced funding from central government. Over 75% of our budget supports essential services for vulnerable children and adults. Due to these constraints, the council must make tough decisions. One proposed change, which will be discussed at Scrutiny on Thursday is charging for kerbside garden waste collection, a service most councils across the country already charge for.
The proposal will be covered in the next week’s newsletter after the scrutiny meeting.
The consultation, which has just been published is here https://consultation.stockport.gov.uk/corporate-support-services-1/lets-talk-budget-25-26-waste-proposal/
Thanks for at least posting a reply on the topic of green bins. It is very rare these days that any reply’s are are posted. In the good old days when Iain was involved there were always plenty of them.
Here’s something for the Scrutiny meeting to consider, cancel all the Vanity projects, cycle lanes / traffic calming / seating pods on the High Street etc,and with the money saved we the Tax Payers can start too recieve services that we want and Are already paying for. Get the Police to enforce road traffic Law regarding Speeding / Parking on Zig Zags / Jumping Red Lights/ turning Right out of Massey Street, doing the job we are paying them for will no doubt raise a great of money in Fines and lead to a more pleasant area to live in.
I for one am fed up hearing about invented Black Holes and Challenges in finance whilst witnessing Councils and Government spend unnecessary large amounts of money which I have been told they do Not Have.
Please could you let me know what stats/evidence you have to support the fact there seems to be hundreds of cyclists out there that need all these bike lanes. I hardly ever see any bikes for commuting – one or two if I’m lucky. They are usually leisure riders cycling in packs who never use the existing bike lanes. As above would like to know the cost – is it just the fact that you are spending grants being given by the government? It is totally unacceptable to be spending this money which is a complete and utter waste at this moment in time when you need it for vunerable children and adults as you say above. It all doesn’t make any sense to me. I know there are many people who say this. Please advise. Thank you.
Yes, I agree. Plus they’re reducing the amount of vegetation at the top of Schools Hill to create space for the cycle line. Hardly environmentally friendly.
Charging for green bin collections and introducing a new bin for food waste whilst only collecting blue bin’s monthly.
If any of these proposals go ahead it will lead to a reduction in recycling, people will stop looking after their gardens and green areas. And it will lead to Fly tipping.
The residents of Cheadle already pay some of the highest council taxes in England we want value for our taxes not reductions in services whilst shouldering increased charges which I’m sure are on the way.
Hi Liberal team just wondering if you had managed to address our questions
Many thanks
