by Lib Dem team on 22 September, 2022

Get up to £1,000 to support your events or community space this winter
This winter, the council is looking to make sure warm spaces – and a warm welcome – is available to all residents across Stockport. Stockport Council will be offering small grants of up to £1,000 to local organisations to make sure warm spaces, activities and events can be offered between November 2022 and March 2023. Applications are now open and will close 11:59pm on Sunday 2 October. Those completing the form will also be able to receive more information about an additional grant for energy efficiency measures. More information on how to apply is below.
What is the grant for? The money could be used for a number of different purposes:Helping a current warm space stay open for longer/more regularlyHelping a current warm space put on new events or activitiesHelping to provide warm food/drinks for freeSetting up a completely new warm spaceSetting up a new activity or event for residents (if you need a space to put something on, we can help). It would be great to think creatively about how to draw residents in with your idea. Could you bring people together who share a particular interest, or would like to try something new? The types of ideas we’re looking for include: hosting cultural talks, new exercise classes, mother and baby groups, exhibitions, live music.
How to apply You can download the application form here. Please return completed forms and the documents requested on the form to stockportlocal@stockport.gov.uk by 11:59pm on Sunday 2 October. Charities, community groups, faith organisations, CICs, CIOs and trusts can all apply. Please note that private organisations, or proposals that promote a religious or political purpose are not eligible.
Other ways to show your support Even if you don’t need or aren’t eligible for the grant, there are still loads of ways to support our residents this winter:If you currently run a community space that’s open for people to drop in, add your information to our interactive map. Volunteer at a warm space: please join the Stockport Volunteer Hub who will get in touch with volunteering opportunities.
